Database and linked files explained (Professional)TaxCalc can now provide you with either a stand-alone or network installation set-up. If you’re using a stand-alone version, you have the option to store your returns either in a local database or in regular files, much like previous editions of TaxCalc. You can still open TaxCalc 2013 files between different stand-alone machines, but you must have the client set up in Practice Manager in order to open a TaxCalc file. We recommend that you use the local database in stand-alone set-ups. This database means that you'll never have issues with missing or corrupt data files. On network set-ups a database in mandatory, although you can still export and import from files. |
