Message from TaxCalc - Cannot replace the file (when printing/previewing or saving a PDF)

If you receive a message similar to the following when creating a PDF or previewing one, it means that there is an illegal character at the end of the company name.

 

The characters normally show as a space and are most often carriage returns caused by copying and pasting the company name.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Open the tax return and check to see if there is a space or blank character after the company name.

  2. If there is, delete it and try to generate the pdf file again.

  3. If this works, go into Practice Manager.

  4. Double-click on the client name.

  5. Go to Company Information and delete the space(s).
